The DeLuxe Theater and Lyons Avenue Oral History Project // 2016 to 2017
Be a part of helping preserve our Fifth Ward history!
A partnership between The Fifth Ward CRC, The City of Houston HTV, The Gregory School Library, and Folklore Films.
Do you have a story about The DeLuxe Theater to tell?
Every community has a story to tell. The Fifth Ward celebrates 150 years in 2016. We are looking for current and past residents to tell us their stories about growing up in The Fifth Ward and visited the DeLuxe Theater during the years 1941-1969. Share your photos, your funny memories, special moments, and more...we want to hear it all!
Together with the help of HTV and The African American Library at The Gregory School, we are creating a documentary and oral history archive to document the stories surrounding historic The DeLuxe Theater and Lyons Avenue. These memories will be made available for public use as part of the ongoing revitalization of Lyons Avenue and research studies at The Gregory School Library. We are collecting photos, stories, letters, videos, and more to preserve this rich history for many generations to come.
If you'd like to be a part of this on-going project, please email Eddie Young at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Interviews will be scheduled this Fall and early 2017.
